This chapter happens in china in her school.
In this chapter Ji Li was worried about her entrance exam but teacher Gu announced in the school that there would be no final exams this year, everyone would graduate. After hearing that she was happy but still worried about which school she would go to, she wanted to go to Shi-Yi junior high. That morning she met teacher Gu but she was avoiding talking to her, but teacher Gu said not to be so unhappy you are selected to go to Shi-Yi junior high. Ji Li was very happy that day, she put her sparkling Shi-Yi junior high badge and she was walking all over the street so that people see her and say that she is from Shi-Yi junior high. Even though she could not be the red successor she was happy and she was happier than she was before. They graduated but they did not have any graduation ceremony or party with so much happening, they were disappointed but thinking about Shi-Yi junior high made them happy again. This chapter is important to this story because it tells that Ji Li does not have that much Interest to be the red successor and it tells that during the mao's years most of the school changed their rules eg students were graduated without an exam.
